How To Remove write protection from pen drive
First connect your memory card to computer by using card reader (in case of pen drive, you can connect your pen drive directly)
#1 Solution: By using command prompt
- To launch Command Prompt select Start -> Search for “Run” without quotes.. (See the screenshot)
- And then press enter button.
- And type “cmd” in the box, without quotes and click Ok button.
- After that, you’ll see a window as shown in the figure. (See the screenshot)
- Now type “disk part” in command prompt, without quotes and press the enter button to remove write protection from pen drive in PC. (See the screenshot)
- After doing that, now type “list disk” without quotes and again press the enter button. (See the screenshot)
- Now, in order to select your memory card / pen drive, type “Select disk 1” without quotes, as shown in the figure and once again press enter button.
- Now carefully type “attributes disk clear read-only” without quotes. This step leads you to remove write protection error. (See the screenshot)
- Now close the Window and you’re Done!!
Tips: – Now restart your computer and just try to format your Memory card / Pen drive.
Believe me! You wouldn’t see any write protection Pop-up.
#2 Solution: by Using System Registry.
- The second best way to fix this
- The issue is by using system registry.
- First you need to open SystemRegistry, for that Just, follows the below steps.
- Click on “Start”
- Now type “Run” in the search bar, without quotes, and hit enter button (without quotes).
- Now type “Regedit” in it (without quotes) and click on “ok” button.
- After doing that now click on “Registry Editor”
- Now follow up this path in Registry Editor.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentConrolSet/Control/StorageDevicePolicies
- Now you will be able to see write protection option just click on that. And change the value data to“o”.
- And you’re done with Process of remove write protection from pen drive in PC.
