Google Maps: GPS navigation and search are possible without Internet

Google Maps is improved today with the ability to use the application without Internet connection. Google made the announcement noting that 60% of the world has no access to Internet today, hence the need to offer solutions to help them.

Users can save a city or more directly from their smartphone. They can then enjoy the view and GPS navigation. The latter option was not proposed until now, but the consultation could already be achieved underlines Google on his blog.

Another new key opportunity to do research, still without internet connection. The user can find a place for the route and other additional information (phone number, rating, etc).

When the user is in an area saved offline and that the Internet connection is poor (or no), Google Maps will automatically switch to offline mode. The reverse is also expected, Google Maps will return to "normal" mode when an Internet connection again found.

These new features are in place right now in the Android application Google Maps. Users with Google Maps on iOS will soon have the according to Google.
